Custom carpentry in Singapore with full-height wardrobe, glass display cabinets and marble-top dresser

Carpentry Built for Your Space, Not a Catalogue

Off-the-shelf furniture is built to standard sizes. Singapore homes rarely are. A 40mm gap beside a wardrobe, a bulkhead that eats into a corner, an awkward recess beside the window — these are exactly the spaces custom carpentry is for.

We measure on site, design around what's actually there, and build to fit. No filler panels, no wasted corners, no "close enough".

How Carpentry Is Priced in Singapore

Carpentry is quoted per foot run (pfr) — the horizontal length of the unit measured in feet. A 10-foot wardrobe quoted at a given pfr rate is simply that rate multiplied by ten.

Understanding this makes quotes far easier to compare. Two contractors quoting different totals may simply be measuring differently, or including different hardware.

What Changes the RateDetail
Carcass materialPlywood costs more than MDF but survives Singapore humidity far better
Laminate gradeStandard finishes versus premium textured or wood-grain laminates
Unit heightFull-height units to the ceiling cost more per foot run than half-height
Door typeSliding doors need tracks and heavier framing, so they cost more than swing doors
Internal fittingsDrawers, pull-outs, trouser racks and dividers each add to the rate
HardwareSoft-close hinges and runners cost more upfront and last considerably longer
LED integrationBuilt-in lighting requires wiring provision and driver housing
Countertop materialQuartz, sintered stone and laminate differ significantly in price
Ask any contractor for a pfr breakdown, not just a total. We quote each unit separately with the material and hardware specified, so you can see exactly what you're paying for and adjust scope without guessing. Free site measurement and quote.

Materials: What Actually Lasts in Singapore

Plywood vs MDF

We build carcasses in plywood for wet and humid areas — kitchens, bathrooms, service yards. MDF is denser and takes a smoother finish but swells badly once water gets in. In Singapore's humidity, plywood is the safer choice for anything near water.

Laminate Finishes

Laminate handles heat, moisture and daily wear far better than veneer or paint. It's the standard finish for most Singapore carpentry and comes in hundreds of wood grains, solid colours and textured finishes.

Hardware

Hinges and drawer runners are where cheap jobs reveal themselves within two years. We use soft-close hardware as standard — it costs a little more and lasts considerably longer.

From Measurement to Installation

  1. Site measurement — every dimension taken on site, including out-of-square walls
  2. Design and layout — internal configuration agreed before anything is cut
  3. Material selection — laminate samples brought to you
  4. Fabrication — typically 3 to 4 weeks
  5. Installation — usually 1 to 3 days per room
  6. Adjustment and handover — doors aligned, drawers levelled, hardware tested

Commercial Carpentry

The same workshop builds our commercial work — reception desks, cafe service counters, retail display units and office storage walls. Curved counter fronts, integrated power and durable high-traffic finishes are all part of the standard scope.

Questions

Carpentry FAQ

What does custom carpentry cost depend on?

The main factors are carcass material, laminate grade, unit height, door type, internal fittings and hardware quality. Sliding doors cost more than swing doors, and full-height units cost more per foot run than half-height ones. We provide a per-unit breakdown after a free site measurement.

How long does custom carpentry take to make?

Fabrication typically takes 3 to 4 weeks after the design and materials are confirmed. Installation usually takes 1 to 3 days per room. Full-house carpentry packages are installed in phases.

Should I use plywood or MDF for carpentry in Singapore?

Plywood is the safer choice for kitchens, bathrooms and service yards because it resists moisture far better. MDF takes a smoother finish but swells badly if water reaches it, which is a real risk in Singapore's humidity.

What is 'per foot run' in a carpentry quotation?

Per foot run (pfr) means the price is calculated by the horizontal length of the unit in feet. A 10-foot wardrobe is priced as ten times the pfr rate. Unit height, material grade and hardware affect what that rate is. Always ask for a pfr breakdown rather than just a total, so quotes can be compared properly.

Can you match carpentry to my existing furniture?

Yes. We bring laminate samples to your site so you can compare against existing pieces in your own lighting. Exact matches aren't always possible with discontinued finishes, but we can usually get very close.

Do you do carpentry only, without full renovation?

Yes. Carpentry-only projects are common, especially in BTO flats and newer condos where the rest of the unit needs no work. We quote it as a standalone scope.

Do you build commercial counters and reception desks?

Yes. We build reception desks, cafe and retail service counters, display units and office storage walls, including curved fronts and integrated power and data routing.
